A sunny day, cold this morning but above freezing, warmer in the afternoon, pleasantly so.
Attila continues to putter in the garden. He is making time today to work on the doors for the pantry. We accepted a few old bi-fold doors from our former neighbour across the road from Mist Cottage. They have been sitting on supports hung from the rafters in the garage. Being too high for the low ceiling basement, Attila is cutting them down to size to use a pantry doors. This will keep the light out of pantry, which is desirable for food storage. It will also allow us to close off that area when service people are in our basement.
When we had the new heating system installed, service people did comment on our food storage, asking what we would do with it all. That seemed like a silly question, we would eat it of course!
I’ve begun the process of sorting through things to organize the basement. It is early days on that project though, the area is still a construction site.
I have been intermittent-fasting for almost a year now, it seems normal. I have also been eating a relatively small number of calories over the last year, with only one or two cheat days, such as the black forest cake my sister made. And I have been walking miles every day. Have I lost weight, well yes, I have, about four pounds over the course of a year. Attila says I have a Scottish constitution, no calorie will be surrendered. I think the ancestor I inherited this constitution from was adept at surviving long harsh winters, and famines.

A Scottish constitution! That was me too, before all this blocked intestine stuff started. It was near impossible for me to lose weight, but now that I lost weight being forced onto a liquid diet for almost 2 months it seems that I lose weight much more easily. I’ve gotten my diet back to near normal and we’re even eating sandwiches on the go as DH does his treatments, but I still seem to be losing weight.
The body is a funny thing.
Teri, I agree, the body is a funny thing. I am glad to hear your diet is back to normal, two months of a liquid diet would be no fun. I am “overweight”, but losing weight just does not happen for me. I have followed all sorts of regimes, including weight watchers, and nothing results in weight loss. It would be nice to get my weight down a bit, not a lot, but that is not happening. I am not considering going on any extreme diets, like keto, because I already have some pretty serious health issues to manage, not adding any complications to the mix. I eat a Mediterranean style diet, low in sodium, fat, very low in cholesterol and saturated fats, and sugar. My new GP says my weight is fine, I am going to go with that. Sorry to hear DH has to go for treatments, wishing him all the best.
