Our internet service provider decided our present modem is outdated, so they shipped us a new one.
This change triggered a whole series of changes that were required to get everything working the way we want it to work. I find configuring all this technology requires a great deal of focus. And focused I have been today. I have had to retire some pieces of technology, no longer supported by their creators, and becoming quite buggy. It is all working now.
When I focus, I do so with great enthusiasm. The rest of the world, reality, physical needs, they all fade and disappear, as I exist only in my head during these times.
So at dinnertime, I was confused at first because we were already eating dinner. What happened to lunch? It was completely forgotten, it never happened. The day passed and by the time dinner time rolled around I had missed a meal and was running out of time, my eating window was closing soon. There are certain foods I eat for my health, and I had to work hard today to fit them all into my eating window. This was accomplished, with great effort.
Life seems fairly bureaucratic just lately. Medical appointments, bill paying, and trips to the bank to get things sorted out there. It certainly keeps one busy.
The weather has been a roller coaster ride. Some warm sunny days, but mostly cold nights, often below freezing, and not so warm, cloudy days.
Attila harvested his horseradish yesterday. He washed it, peeled it, diced it, and chopped it up in the food processor. Then he added his spices, and vinegar, and bottled it to go in the freezer. I don’t like it, and Attila loves the stuff.
Attila finished installing the shelf above the freezer, and moved on to install a door on the pantry. It keeps the light out of there, Ginger out of there, and prying eyes out of there. Often service people comment on our food storage, that will be no more.
Attila has just informed me that tomorrow planting season begins!

The left side of the door is an intact bi-fold door which has been made shorter to fit in our low ceiling in the basement. The right side of the door is half of a bi-fold door, shortened, with an additional piece of wood attached, from top to bottom, to fill in the gap between the left and right side. The lock is a staple and hasp type, it can be locked with a simple padlock if desired. It would be a rare occasion that we would lock this door.
And now, at last, to begin organizing the basement, the last frontier of chaos that ensued with our move here ten years ago in September.
P.S. Do you like the little peep hole with knobs in the wall? That is the support telepost that Attila installed near the beginning of the project, the knobs stuck out where the wall was to go, so they were given their own cutout, so that the wall could be built where it is.

Looks like a workable solution! All good!
It works very well Joan! We didn’t ever have plans to finish the basement as a living space, the ceiling is very low for walking around, just fine for storage. The great thing about the door solution and the walls beside it, is that it was constructed from salvaged materials, that were either scraps from other projects, or salvaged wood such as the doors, that we diverted from the dump.
I ENVY YOU that level of focus!
SP, the focus is a blessing and curse. It was certainly extremely difficult in dealing with small children, mine in particular, who were very precocious and highly interactive. Having five minutes of uninterrupted time to think or get anything done was a rare event for 27 years. The incredible luxury of retirement means I can get lost in my head for days at a time, I love wandering around in there. Attila reminds me to eat, sleep, etc. during those times.
