Chores

This morning I had an appointment with the bank, Attila came along as some of the processes being taken care of involved him. Since we were out and about, we stopped at the Post Office, so that I could send the old ISP modem back to the company, after receiving and installing a new one. Then we headed to the grocery store. Yikes, it was so crowded in there, all the carts were taken, line ups for the cash registers reached the back of the store. It was such a relief to get out of there and head back home.

Once home I finally had my breakfast, which had to be toast and peanut butter. I usually eat my chocolate zucchini muffins, but I was all out of those, so the toast had to do. Then it was time to bake more muffins, and some blueberry apple squares. Later today I will make a big batch of borscht, using our frozen garden beets and cabbage. I need to bake bread as well, Attila wants to use all we have to make stuffing for the turkey he plans on roasting tomorrow.

I used the last of the whole wheat flour to make the muffins and squares, which means it is time to get busy sorting wheat berries so that I can mill more flour. I’ve taken a break from all these kitchen projects to sit here and write this.

It is sunny, and was below freezing this morning when we went for a walk. It is warmer now, and guess where Attila is… in the garden of course! Today he is planting peas in the soil, planting the greenery from the horseradish harvest, and transplanting root clumps of Granny’s Heliopsis. Attila is in his happy place.
