This morning I woke up before light. The clock said 3:45 a.m. I rolled over and did not go back to sleep. I gave myself about ten minutes to drift off, and did not. So I arose and began to ready for my drive back to the country house.
At 5:03 a.m. I backed the car out of the driveway at the little house in the city. And so my journey began. The weather during the trip was cloudy, but there was no rain. Other than one stop for fuel, and a few stops for construction, the trip was uneventful. Morning is my time.
My only company during the trip was the white peony bloom that I picked yesterday evening. I just could not bear to leave it behind! My trip was heavenly scented.
At 9:35 a.m. I pulled into the driveway at the country house. After calling Attila to let him know I had arrived safely, I began to bring my luggage and food into the house to put away. I also unloaded all the recyclables, and the garbage for the week. I had one small bag of garbage. Eating mostly vegetables and fruit, during my visit to the little house in the city, meant that most of the waste created ended up in the composter.
Attila came home for lunch, a rare treat, and we had a nice little visit, before he grabbed a short power nap and then returned to work.
So, I’ve been there and back again.

Glad you’re home safely.
I’m glad your trip home was uneventful except for the lovely flower scent.
So it’s a 4+ hour trip to the little house in the city? That’s a good chunk. Nice that you had the flower with you on the way back. Glad you are home safe & sound.
Peonies smell so wonderful! It is quite a drive, but if I do it in the morning, when I am fresh, it is manageable.
