It has been snowing off and on all day. I feel that if I write another word about snow falling from the sky, I may start to scream! But when there is nothing, as far as the eye can see, except snow falling to the ground, I can think of little else; for every other thought would be of freedom, and there is none while the snow falls. Good grief, will this never end, this endless winter.
There is a stiff wind blowing, and the temperature is almost above freezing, but not quite. So the snow blows. It blows this way, and that way, and piles up all around the house.
Well, I wrote about snow and I am not screaming. That is something.

Maggie, I wish I had words of comfort, but I don’t. While you know that this, too, shall end, getting through the moment can be a real challenge.
You are so right Wendy! Today I met the challenge by writing about how I feel, here in this journal, feeling comforted by your comment, and indulging in comfort food; all strategies helped! Today I made a wonderful oven cornbread for Attila’s lunch, and then did braised beef and vegetables in the cast iron dutch oven for dinner.
Oh, yum! That sounds like good coping to me.
I’ve been making cornbread, biscuits, homemade soups and chowders lately a lot! Our ground is bare which is the first time we’ve been able to say that all winter. I cut sprigs of forsythia and put them in water and they have all bloomed and are growing green leaves on them now, and that has seriously uplifted my winter doldrums – seeing a live blooming vase-ful of sprigs… I should do it every year now.
I can’t imagine living in a country that has snow year-round.
Bare ground Bex! I am looking forward to that. I think we are at least two weeks away from seeing it, if not three, there is a lot of snow yet to melt. The forsythia sound heavenly! Our forsythia is still under the snow, just waiting for the the rain and the sun to take their toll on winter.
