Cow Patties

The weather has been cool, mostly sunny, with lots of intermittent rain. Everywhere you look there is a lushness to the green, an abundance in the environment. I love the cooler weather, particularly when the sun is shining. One of the advantages of cool summer weather is that indoor cooking is a comfortable activity. Yesterday I spent time cooking my all day spaghetti sauce, a cool weather treat!

Attila has begun the process of bringing in the firewood. Last night he worked with his chain saw, to section a tall tree that a wind storm brought down last summer. If we sell the house, we will probably sell the wood fuel with it, so that the new owner can manage for most of the winter without having to purchase more. If we do not sell the house, we will have enough wood to make it through part of the winter, and will need to purchase more in early February.

I am working for the next three days. Dreading it. I wrote quite a bit, just now, about that work environment… then enjoyed deleting all of it. Not my circus, not my monkey. Better not to linger by, or step in, the cow patties.

Here’s hoping the work environment will be better than usual. I try to remember that if I step in someone else’s cow pattie, I’m the one who ends up smelling like it. By the same token, there’s the old line about, “Stress is the result of suppressing the urge to choke the living cow pattie out of someone who desperately needs it.”

Work? Ugh! So glad I’m retired! I would love to delete some of my life story…

Hey, I’m still trying to remember some of my life story! There are whole spaces of time that are gone!

I’m in the midst of editing and culling journals of my life story. In about 15 minutes I intend to *work* all day on this project. I’d mentally reserved the entire month of July for editing and culling. It’s daunting!

Immediate smile: One of my occasional sayings regarding situations I want to avoid, “I didn’t want to step in that cow pie!” People always laugh when I say that. Though I sense the expression is new to them, they get it immediately… and laugh. Though I’m not without opinion, on occasion I’ll twirl a finger above my head and say, “I’m Switzerland.”

We on the mountain have had the most delightful summer weather-wise. My property has never looked more beautiful – nothing planted by me except a couple of flowery trees in my front yard (a flowering plum and dogwood), mother nature has provided everything else and it is over-the-top beautiful this summer with an impossible range of green tones – thousands of soothing tones. My home is literally cocooned in soothing greens.

I was going to say 7C at 6AM? Brrrrr! But I just looked and we were 8C (46F) at 5AM, so it’s not like I could talk.

Yes, the weather has been lovely, even a bit chill, recently. It’s made for good weather to walk the dogs and I go with DH just about every day. It’ll be a good weekend to work on the garden, as long as we don’t get any rain. (Spoke too soon, they’re forecasting 60% chance for Sunday. Need to get most of our work done on Saturday, then.)

Thanks, Maggie! I do find that our weather report does often suffer from delay, so here’s hoping!

We folks south of you, we were actually glad for those rains recently. We’d had some spitting but it hadn’t been enough and our grass was starting to go brown. Now it’s all a lovely green – for at least a bit longer.
