We sold the country house!
We must be moved out within two weeks!
We will be busy! Attila and I will be moving ourselves, no moving company, just truck rental and lots of hard graft.
I can hardly believe it, but the news came early this morning.
An offer came in a month ago, not a great offer, but an offer. The people LOVE the house, and will be moving here with their four children. The quick closing is so the children can start school here; so we agreed to it.
This morning we are both feeling a bit stunned, we did not actually let ourselves believe the house would sell, although we hoped it would.
Time to get moving.
Wish us luck, we will need it!

Who hoo! What wonderful news. I wish you and Attila a smooth and uneventful move and your buyers every joy in their new home.
Thanks Wendy!
Oh, I’m SO happy for you, congratulations! Wow! All the good luck and strength and clarity of mind to you as you arrange your move. Wow! So happy for you!
Thanks Joan! “Clarity of mind”, yes, that is just what is needed now, 🙂
Best of luck Maggie! Wow! I am so happy for you!!! Two weeks? Not much time… lots of work… yes, you will be busy bees! But a good busy… Wow! Congratulations! So… you will be moving to the Little House in the City now? Or staying in the country? I can’t remember! I’m so excited for you!
Thanks Bex! Where will we be living you ask, it is up in the air for the moment. Attila will be looking for work at the little house, but will continue with his job near the country house until he finds something. We are thinking he will rent a room if he hasn’t found work in the next two weeks… a lot is still up in the air. But the move to the little house is on, we are moving all of our belongings to the little house. Attila has a few ideas of how to navigate keeping his country house location job, where to stay etc., but we don’t know yet what will happen on that front.
We do know that this winter it will be unlikely that Attila has to chop wood, or shovel much snow, which in itself is a huge relief.
We are very excited!
Lovely. Bravo!
Thanks Steve-Paul, we are in action mode now!
WOOT!!!!!!! So HAPPY for you two, Maggie!!!
Attila still working the country job isn’t ideal but without chopping wood, keeping a fire going and paying a double mortgage life is still easier for both of you.
Breathing room. Space to make look at alternatives and consider what you really want and where you really want to be.
So happy for you!!! *HUGS*
Thanks Teri! I am really looking forward to only having ONE house! Attila working the country house is certainly not ideal, but the move to the little house is the first step in changing our location, and it is a crucial one. To work!
Congrats on the house sale! Exciting times for you and Attila. You have certainly been working hard to make changes in your life and now it’s all happening at once! I do hope it all goes well for you. If there are any little hiccups along the way your wonderful resourcefulness and resilience will see you through.
Thanks Sandra! All at once is spot on, first we had way too much time to think, now we have no time to think! That is the way of it. Already, it is only the second day, we have had two big “break downs” in equipment, changed the way we are doing the move. Only to be expected, the third blip should become apparent soon, I will be interested to see what it is. The other two are a transmission issue in Tank, and the second is that the Bell lines out on the road are malfunctioning, the phones are crazy and the internet only works intermittently. So we wait for word from the mechanic, and from Bell technicians. All to be expected though, and luckily I had done all the legal work for the deal yesterday, so the internet being wonky for a day won’t make any difference. I am super busy packing anyway! 🙂
Oh, no! What timing, that Tank would have a problem now. Are you going to be able to handle moving your larger things, Maggie?
A rental truck has been booked Teri. Tank goes in to the mechanic tomorrow morning, should know the status next week. Meanwhile, we are getting ready to load that truck! 🙂
Oh, good. Didn’t know how easy it would be to rent a truck way up north. Glad to hear you can get around it.
That is excellent news! Don’t work yourselves into an early grave, now, with all that packing and toting. Two weeks isn’t very much time.
Kate, I find myself so enthusiastic about the move that I don’t remember to eat, I just keep on packing. I don’t mind it really. I do take longer and longer breaks as the day wears on, and by suppertime I am only really dabbling a little with the packing project.
Two weeks is not much time at all!
Luckily Attila had booked his vacation for these two weeks, so he will be here, packing with me as of tomorrow. The unpacking is beyond thinking about!
