Matters of Consequence

 || || >

The thought that my writing might be of no particular consequence to other people is of limited concern. The periods of time when my writing is of no particular consequence to me are a source of agony. Each character that forms upon the page represents a lost opportunity. Each thought that falls from grace before the sentence ends is a lost child. Truths become elusive shadows fading in the failing light. I am alone with the echoes of words.

To have known so many through words penned in my absence; to remain a stranger to so many so close as to touch, my isolation is complete. Are words the stuff that binds or the wedge of indifference? Did Icarus fall in silence?

I will write.
