Here are a few of my favorite online haunts:
REALTOR.ca
[This is the site I visit to fantasize about
living in Toronto again, which is almost
every single
day during the winter]
Jonathan Cainer's Zodiac Forecasts
[This is where I visit in the morning, when
I need a positive spin on things past, present
and future.]
Living Local
[This is where I go to see what Canadians
are up to, sometimes I even buy things from
the businesses listed there.]
Environment Canada Weather
[This is the site I visit every morning,
and before every road trip during the winter]

It is a misty morning and all is well with us.
I haven't written in some time, mostly because of the way I have been feeling about my workplace. I definitely do not enjoy the management style of the company, it seems that it brings out the worst in everyone who works there. No one escapes the ill effects of this kind of toxicity, myself included.
Not wanting to immortalize my dislike for the situation, I am choosing to remain silent. I hope to forget, sooner rather than later. A search for alternative employment is actively underway.
During August a dear friend, Annie, visited from England with her new husband the estimable Frank. It has been years since I have seen her and she was certainly a sight for sore eyes. We had a good chinwag and Attila and I got know her husband, a wonderfully jolly fellow.
Old friends from the city, where Attila and I lived in before our big move to the country, came to stay with us for a few days. We welcomed the company and the conversation. We enjoyed cooking a meal over the open fire, and hiking on local trails.
Attila and I are busy waiting. Waiting for our grandchildren to emerge into the world. Two of them are presently sharing tight quarters and considering their imminent first appearance. Twins, Luna is about to give birth to twins.
We last saw Luna and Janus when Terra organized a baby shower for them last June. Luna was obviously pregnant then, I can only imagine how she looks now, carrying two large, healthy babies. They don't seem real, these dreamlike grand-babies. At present they exist only in the realm or our imagination. The first visit will take care of that, I am sure.
Attila's screened-in porch is almost completed. We are enjoying quiet moments, listening to the sounds of the forest and distant trains, well away from the stinging interest of biting insects.
Our household purge is slowing down and is in need of an energy burst on my part to get it rolling again. I have collected several more boxes of items, perfectly functional items, to be carried off to the Salvation Army store for redistribution. The delivery will have to wait until we are able to travel to the urban centre where the nearest drop centre is located.
Since I have a benefit package where I work, I was able to afford an eye examination and two pairs of new eyeglasses, one for driving and one for reading. What a relief, the strain of functioning eight hours a day with poor vision, in a hectic work environment, was becoming difficult. I see that clearly now.
Our friend Em is an avid gardener, and grew copious amounts of basil for us this year. We had so much basil in fact, that we were able to prepare and freeze a three year supply of pesto, and thank Em with four or five containers. In addition we have dried a considerable amount of basil, for use as a dried herb. Bounty!
Em felt she should pay us for the pesto because we had to buy ingredients at the store, and she contributed only fresh basil and garlic from her garden. We wouldn't hear of it though, because the gift of fresh produce, grown just for us, is something to be treasured. How lucky we are to have people in our lives with whom we can afford the luxury and joy of reciprocity.
Our life is quietly unfolding in the day-to-day routines of everyday life.
