Here are a few of my favorite online haunts:

REALTOR.ca
[This is the site I visit to fantasize about living in Toronto again, which is almost every single day during the winter]

Jonathan Cainer's Zodiac Forecasts
[This is where I visit in the morning, when I need a positive spin on things past, present and future.]

Living Local
[This is where I go to see what Canadians are up to, sometimes I even buy things from the businesses listed there.]

Environment Canada Weather
[This is the site I visit every morning, and before every road trip during the winter]

Sunday was lovely, quiet and sunny.

Five more weeks of winter left to us, then we can count on the snow melting and the roads becoming increasingly reliable.

I was lucky enough to work in the mornings last week, and have accumulated the equivalent of just under three days of work, over a period of seven days. I feel so much better when there is a bit of money coming in. Working serves two purposes, it brings in some much needed cash and it allows me human contact, which in turn wards off cabin fever. A winning situation all round.

I have no work lined up for several weeks, but in March I am scheduled to work for four whole days, which is great.

I am not finding the work schedule conducive to learning the skills needed for the job. Because I am only there occasionally, and sometimes have no work for several weeks, it is very difficult to remember anything that I've learned. Some things are falling into place, particularly since I worked over a period of days last week.

Still, there are a myriad of details to remember, and a lot of processes that have many alternative choices at several stages, making it difficult to learn any of them through consistent exposure. It is frustrating to learn this way, and I find that it is taking me a very long time to catch on, and that I experience a lot of frustration in the process. I'll have to discover how to accept that I make mistakes, without beating myself up for it. This job provides me with consistent opportunities to learn that lesson.

I've been busy adjusting my web sites, as Google has new offerings in the way that searches operate on sites.

Attila and I made the decision today, to cancel all but the bare bones satellite television package. We will still have access to some Canadian television stations, but very limited choices for programming. Since we have found ourselves hopelessly searching for something interesting to watch on the television this winter, we are going to try something else.

After looking around, I discovered NetFix. It is not available in Canada, and does not look like it is coming to Canada any time soon.

On one of the forums that I checked out, someone suggested zip.ca. I found their site and it sounded great. Then I began to read customer reviews, and decided against doing business with them because of their reputation for poor customer service. When someone is charging things on my credit card, I want good customer service.

Repeatedly I found positive reference to cinemail.ca, and finally decided to give their 14 day trial a go. We would then have access to programs we want to watch. Of course, all this is fine in theory, reality will have its' own say.

Caitrìona called this morning to say hello. She sounds so happy, wonderful to hear. I do look forward to seeing her when she comes back to Canada.

Skype has been a real boon to my existence. I've been talking almost daily to Harriet, and it really is talking. I'm not sure what we talk about, but we seem to be able to keep each other amused. I look forward to our conversations.

Attila cooked a roast with potatoes and carrots and green beans, for Sunday dinner. Sunday morning he made amazing wild blueberry pancakes. I am not eating much these days, and Attila makes sure I enjoy every bite I do take.

We made granola in the crock pot today, and I have bread rising on the hearth. We do enjoy cooking and even more, eating!

Toyota has not called me about our recalled vehicle yet, so I'll have to try and pin them down this week, since I have the time right now. I may be very busy later in the spring, and if so I'll find having to get the accelerator pedal dealt with an imposition.

Alls well here in the bush. Attila thinks so. I think so. Mist thinks so. That's us covered. Hope the rest of the world fares as well as we have.

Photography: "a term which comes from the Greek words photos (light) and graphos (drawing). A photograph is made with a camera by exposing film to light in order to create a negative. The negative is then used in the darkroom to print a photograph (positive) onto light-sensitive paper.

Poetry: "a form of speech or writing that harmonizes the music of its language with its subject. To read a great poem is to bring out the perfect marriage of its sound and thought in a silent or voiced performance. At least from the time of Aristotle's Poetics, drama was conceived of as a species of poetry."

Journal: " "Though a journal may be many things - a treasury, a storehouse, a jewelry box, a laboratory, a drafting board, a collector's cabinet, a snapshot album, a history, a travelogue..., a letter to oneself - it has some definable characteristics. It is a record, an entry-book, kept regularly, though not necessarily daily.... Some (entries) will be nearly illegible, written in the dark in the middle of the night.... Not only is it a record for oneself, but of oneself. Every memorable journal, any successful journal, is honest. Nothing sham, phony, false...." (Dorothy Lambert from Ken Macrorie's book, Writing to be Read )
A journal is a way to keep track of your thoughts about what you read... as well as what you did on any given day."

A Blog is an online journal created by server side software, often hosted by a commercial interest.

"The term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger[4] on 17 December 1997. The short form, "blog," was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999.[5][6][7] Shortly thereafter, Evan Williams at Pyra Labs used "blog" as both a noun and verb ("to blog," meaning "to edit one's weblog or to post to one's weblog") and devised the term "blogger" in connection with Pyra Labs' Blogger product, leading to the popularization of the terms."
