A Quenching Rain

Attila has been busy all day! He is scraping peeling paint from the siding on the house, and touching up with fresh paint. There are three sides of the house to be done, he is working on the second one now, one more to go!

My time is pleasantly occupied by bits of this and that, all crucial to a comfortable life, but none very exciting. Such is the nature of the day to day necessities of life.

Canning season has not started yet, we keep eating our produce from the garden, and freezing some of it as well. We have frozen beets, edible pod peas, scarlet runner beans, and four large batches of pesto. The pesto is our “junk food”, when we are feeling lazy and want a quick and indulgent meal, we eat cheese tortellini and pesto.

I think our first canning session will be Cowboy Candy, or candied Jalapeños. We need two pounds of peppers for this recipe, and we haven’t quite harvested enough peppers to proceed.

Every day we eat produce from our garden, in stir fry, and green salads. It is oh so good! We could not afford to purchase such excellent organic produce. It is so wonderful that Attila likes to garden!

Most of my medical stuff is done now, only the Shingrix shot to go, and that has yet to be scheduled. I feel very blessed that my test results have been mostly positive, with some small issues that I hope can be remedied over time.

After a sunny hot day today, we have rain. The garden is grateful. I love the sound of rain.

A little note here to Eileen. I’ve been sending you healing thoughts and hope you are well!

We finally got some rain yesterday, with 1 downburst and later about half an hour of rain. We have a new little rain gauge that looks like a blue Peace Lily. It says we got just over an inch of rain. We were so glad, as DH had put down fertilizer because the forecast had said rain but we didn’t get any on Monday.

Something about the name Cowboy Candy always makes me smile. It sounds tasty.
