Intense three days for us.
It started with a specialist appointment in Toronto, left at 7 a.m., arrived home at 4 p.m. and most of that time was on the highways. It takes a lot of preparation to attend an appointment in Toronto, we have to plan three portable meals to take with us, no restaurants for us. Not only was the journey itself stressful, but there were two pieces of disappointing news (not life threatening in the immediate sense), and one piece of extremely good news, at the specialists office. It was difficult not to focus on the disappointing news, lol!
So, the upshot was that I was to consult with “my GP”. We had only a Nurse Practitioner, until two months ago when she left the clinic, so since then no one.
The next day was full of appointments, one of which was a hair cut for me. More disappointment, worst cut I’ve ever had in my life, except the cuts I gave myself, they were scream worthy, you get what you pay for.
Today I dealt with ordering the wrong battery for the vacuum, it was my second call. It was my mistake. A month ago I’d called them and was told there would be a refund on my credit card, and not to bother sending back the wrong battery. The refund never showed up. So I called a second time. It turns out, I think, that the first customer service person I talked to was an outright liar, there was no refund, there was nothing at all happening. So, the second call hopefully got all that sorted out, I’ve printed the packing slip they sent to return the wrong battery, and they said they are sending me the correct item. Fingers crossed that the issue is over!!! I hope the jerk who lied to me during the first call no longer has that job.
Also today I began to deal with not having a Nurse Practitioner to follow up on the specialist recommendations. When I called the clinic last week they said I might become one of Dr. A’s patients, yay. When I called today to try to make an appointment they said I was not to become one of Dr. A’s patients, I would become one of Dr. B’s patients, and I was given an appointment for next week. If it is true about Dr. B it is very exciting, we haven’t had a family doctor since 2015, when we moved here and applied to join the clinic, which took over 5 years on the waiting list. We have had four different Nurse Practitioners since joining that clinic, and now our fifth health care practitioner is Dr. B, or so I am told.
So here I sit, feeling a little bit grumpy, looking a little bit frumpy from the neck up, and attempting to wind down! I have been overwhelmed by too many beyond-our-control activities over a short period of time.
I am writing to let the universe know I am not amused, writing is something I find relaxing. Attila is out in the garden, beginning the process of shutting it down for the winter, as we have had quite a few nights of heavy frost. That is what he finds relaxing.
And the weather people say we are in for a few days of sunny, mild weather. I am looking forward to that!
I hope all is well in your world!

Painfully obvious on social media.
Love your Murrow quote and comment! Love you too, Maggie.
Hey SP! Murrow said it so succinctly. Love and hugs!
I hope hope hope hope hope that you get picked up by one of the two doctors! I know how hard it can be to have no one at all to help you with medical conditions!
Thanks Teri! It would be lovely to have a GP again, hopefully it will happen. BUT I think they might just be hiring temporary doctors, I might have the nerve to ask him when I have the appointment. It is very challenging to manage health care in senior years without consistent support! It would be amazing to trust someone!
I hope you soon get a GP and that your weekend improves over your week.
Thank you Joan! As usual, I am working through my feelings, for me time is kind, it brings clarity and perspective. The flow of life is slowly moving past the rapids.
