Wishing everyone peace and good health this holiday season!
A Christmas Eve surprise was in store for me, as my childhood friend found a way to contact my family, leaving her telephone number with my Mom. Mom passed the number on to me, so that I could make contact. I did just that on Christmas Eve Day, and goodness it was good to hear that distant voice, much changed over the 53 years since we last saw one another. She is an amazing woman, and it was wonderful to hear of her journey through the years. We want to have a sit down visit soon, but will have to wait until the pandemic fizzles out, whenever that may be.
Attila and I are having a very quiet Christmas here at Mist Cottage. Our one Christmas gift to ourselves was a Tomato Mill / Meat Grinder, which we used a few weeks ago to make our own Sausage Patties. It seemed appropriate to enjoy a Christmas Eve dinner with Sausage Patties, and a variety of vegetables. It was lovely.
Today we have interacted with our distant loved ones using the technology of the times, which is not the same or as nice as being with them. We are grateful for it just the same.
Attila has been out in the garden today, Christmas Day, harvesting Brussels Sprouts for our Christmas Dinner. He is roasting the turkey, and preparing all of the rest of the meal. We have a few chocolate treats that were handed out as some sort of promotion in his workplace, last spring. He hid those away in the freezer, so as to bring them out for our Christmas Celebration. He also baked Gingerbread Cookies yesterday. I baked Panettone, Mincemeat Squares, and regular bread for the turkey dressing. Since our turkey is brined, I cannot eat the gravy made from the drippings. My solution was to make a batch of sodium free Onion Gravy yesterday, which will be reheated for me today. I will eat a small portion of the turkey meat, which should keep my sodium intake under control. Hopefully we will never received brined poultry or meat again!
The dreary, grey skies are drizzling fine rain over the soggy snow in the yard. We have just emerged from a cold spell. The weather is all over the place. The weather does what it wants. Meanwhile we are grateful to be so cozy in our small and humble abode.

Merry Christmas old friends. Miss you. Glad for your reconnection to your friend! Wishing for many more!
Lol that was me!
Maggie, all best wishes to you and Attila for the holiday season.
Merry Christmas Joannie! Missing you too! Hopefully at some point this virus will burn itself out and we oldies but goldies can get on with our get togethers!
Wendy, Merry Christmas and a very happy holiday season to you and yours!

Cookie, thank you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours! Love Maggie (and Attila too 🙂 )
I’m glad you had a happy Christmas, (except for salty turkey). I hope and pray 2022 brings you all only good fortune!
Joan, thank you so much, wishing you all the best in the coming year. Yes, the salty turkey was unfortunate, but I did enjoy the meal in spite of that!
Maggie, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and Attila. It’s wonderful that you and your friend reconnected!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and Attila!
Happy Holidays to you both.
Sandy, Best of the Seaon to you and yours! It was quite wonderful to reconnect with my childhood friend. I had tried to find her many times over the years and had no luck. My brother brought us together again, she found the family through his obituary, his gift to me.
Teri, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and DH!
Bex, wishing you and Paul a very Happy Holiday Season!
Merry Christmas Maggie. Wishing you all the best for a happy and healthy New Year. Wonderful that you can still enjoy some tidbits from your garden. We cherish every little thing we can eat fresh this time of year.
Merry Christmas Sandra to you and yours! I hope the coming year brings you peace and health. I am thrilled to be eating fresh produce from the garden. Attila trudges through the snow to cut the stalks of Brussels Sprouts, it seems very strange. He hopes there are carrots and beets somewhere under the snow as well, time will tell. I agree about appreciating every bit of fresh produce at this time of year!
